Easy Auto Ship doesn’t quite make our list of the Best Car Shipping Companies, but it’s darn close. The transport broker invests in pricing software to give you some of the most accurate quotes in the business. It also provides you with a free rental car if your vehicle doesn’t arrive within two weeks...Easy Auto Ship pays for a rental. The company truly makes it “easy” to ship a car.

Easy Auto Ship offers car shipping services at an average open transport quote of $1,000, which is on the higher end compared to industry competitors. It holds a moderate rating of 3.6 out of 5 stars and an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), indicating solid credibility. The company also boasts over 10 years of experience in the industry.

When compared to others like AmeriFreight and SGT Auto Transport, which have significantly lower quotes ($825 and $675, respectively) and higher ratings (4.8 and 4.75 stars), Easy Auto Ship may appear less competitive in terms of value.

Sherpa Auto Transport, although more expensive at $1,075, has a better rating of 4.5 stars. Other companies like Montway and Ship A Car Direct offer lower prices ($750 and $725) with comparable A+ BBB ratings and strong Move.org ratings, making them potentially more appealing options for cost-conscious and service-minded folks.

The cost to ship a car with Easy Auto Ship is around $1,000. You can get prices as low as $600 to ship a car in-state, while shipping a car across the country will set you back around $1,400.

Your Easy Auto Ship quote is good for 30 days, and the auto transport broker accepts all major credit cards and PayPal. You can also get a discount if:

• You pay in cash
• Are in the military
• A senior
• A student
• Plan to ship several vehicles at once

While their pricing has increased from previous years, we can confirm that Easy Auto Ship's final prices are only slightly higher than the initial quote they provide. And that’s saying something for an industry in which we’ve seen final prices be as much as 10 times higher than initial estimates. Bottom line? You might receive a slightly higher quote to ship your car, but you won't be hit with any unexpected additional costs on the back end. 

Easy Auto Ship's car shipping prices are consistently higher than the industry average across all distance categories. For cross-country shipments, their average price is $1,400 — $247 more than the industry average of $1,153. Regional transport costs $600, which is $51 above the industry norm of $549. In-state shipping also stands at $600, exceeding the industry average of $479 by $121. These figures suggest that while Easy Auto Ship may offer solid service and reliability, its pricing tends to be on the higher end compared to typical industry rates for all types of transport distances.

Easy Auto Ship identifies several things that affect the cost of transporting a vehicle:

• Almost nothing matters more than total mileage. A trip of 500 miles or less could cost only $650, while a full cross-country transport may set you back around $1,200 — or almost twice as much.
• Vehicle size and weight. Smaller vehicles cost less than large ones. The average cost to ship a Toyota Corolla is lower, but a bigger and heavier Ford F-150 costs about $184 more.
• Easy Auto Ship says increasing the speed of your delivery can boost costs. You don’t often run into this, though. Auto carriers must drive the speed limit and have a daily limit on how long they can be on the road. This usually means that drivers can’t travel more than about 500 miles per day.
• Expedited pickup. You can pay extra to have your vehicle picked up faster to jump-start the shipping process. Easy Auto Ship says the fee for this is around 30–40% more than normal car shipping costs.
• Diesel fuel. If gas prices are high, you can expect that your bill will be too. 
• Open or enclosed transport. Most people ship their vehicles on a truck that is “open” to the elements (it gets hit by dirt, wind, rain, etc.). Easy Auto Ship says that its enclosed transport shipping costs about 40% more (our research suggests the company charges only about 20% extra).
• Vehicle condition. Easy Auto Ship says that it will charge around $150 if your vehicle isn’t operable—meaning it won’t break, steer, or roll on its own. The car shipping company also says that it’s your responsibility to arrange for a forklift to load and unload your vehicle if it doesn't run.
• Route difficulty. “Time equals money,” according to Easy Auto Ship. Drop-off locations on the driver’s regular route are cheaper than rural delivery locations that require long detours.
• Time of year. Auto transport is a supply and demand industry. Shipping a car costs more in the summer and winter when everybody’s doing it.

Easy Auto Ship uses only carriers that have at least $100,000 liability insurance. This basic coverage protects against driver negligence. Additionally, Easy Auto Ship’s Contingency Cargo Policy gives you an additional $100,000 of insurance at no charge (meaning the car shipping company carries a separate policy to help out with costs if you max out your carrier’s insurance).

Easy Auto Ship can transport all of your cars on open or enclosed transport, and its wide array of shipping services can accommodate several vehicle types:

Easy Auto Ship guarantees car shipping quotes obtained over the phone. That’s important because auto transport costs often go up about 25% between the time you get a quote and pay your bill.

For example, Easy Auto Ship has a software program that spits out accurate quotes about 85% of the time if you order online. But the software doesn’t account for many real-time variables the company can sort through if you call (most likely things like which carriers are going your direction, how seasonality affects prices, and which roads are shut down for construction).

The auto transport broker is so confident that it fully guarantees your quote if you call by phone. It takes a bit longer, but you can’t argue with knowing your final price upfront.

Easy Auto Ship gives customers additional insurance coverage to protect against damage. While the transport broker uses only auto carriers with insurance, so does everyone else we talk about (Move.org doesn’t review companies without insurance). What really sets Easy Auto Ship apart is its Contingency Cargo Policy. The auto transport broker gives every customer an additional $100,000 of insurance coverage for free. It even has an in-house claims department to make sure you get the one-on-one attention that you deserve.

Because sometimes, the carrier’s insurance isn’t enough. If a driver’s negligence led to more damage than the policy covered, you’d be on the hook for the remaining costs with another broker. But Easy Auto Ship gives you another $100,000 cushion to set your mind at ease. Extra damage protection is a sign of a high-quality car shipping service — and Easy Auto Ship checks that box.

It’s been around for only 10 years, but Easy Auto Ship is a customer favorite on popular sites like Yelp and Transport Reviews. The company says that it has thousands of repeat customers, and it’s not hard to see why.

• Free stuff. Easy Auto Ship has some of the most comprehensive perks in the car shipping industry. For instance, you can expect a free car wash if your vehicle arrives dirty. And if it takes 10 or more days for your car to arrive, Easy Auto Ship will pay for a car rental. That’s a big deal if you don’t want to fork out for an Uber to get to work.
• Instant online quotes. Easy Auto Ship is one of the few companies that has instant online quotes. That means rather than spend 10–15 minutes on the phone, you can get an initial estimate in less than two minutes. Super convenient if you ask us. 
• No upfront fees. You don’t pay anything until Easy Auto Ship assigns a driver to your car. That means you’ll never get stuck with bait-and-switch pricing where you must choose between losing your deposit (often upwards of $200) or finding an affordable rate. And if you find a better deal somewhere else, Easy Auto Ship lets you walk free.
• Available in all 50 states. Easy Auto Ship provides shipping services in the two states most likely to be left off the lists of other companies: Alaska and Hawaii. It’s a small thing, but that extra availability is downright irresistible.

You can see why Easy Auto Ship gets such outstanding customer reviews. Is the company perfect? Probably not. Its website has a super annoying pop-up ad, and while the “live chat” feature sounds enticing, it’s really just another way for you to email the company (most responses come back within one day). But the auto shipping company’s significant strengths far outweigh its weaknesses. We’d be surprised if we don’t see this company on our Best Car Shipping Companies down the road.

Easy Auto Ship is impressive. Despite being on the newer side, it barely missed making our Best Car Shipping Companies list. The shipping company knows what customers want — and gives it to them. Easy Auto Ship invests in pricing software to increase quote accuracy, provides $100,000 extra insurance on its own dime, and even has a free car rental option. Put it all together, and you can see why thousands of customers give the company good reviews.

When we first started researching car shipping companies, we noticed an alarming trend: every brand seemed to have irate customers warning others to never use them. Type any car shipping company into Google and you'll find people complaining about lapses in communication, no-show carriers, surprise price increases, and scratched vehicles. 

Such widespread dissatisfaction seems to suggest that the problem isn't necessarily with the companies themselves, but with the car shipping industry as a whole. Brokers provide a popular service by streamlining the hiring process and allowing multiple carriers to bid on each job, which helps lower the final price. Some brokers offer additional perks like extra insurance coverage and quick access to a back-up plan when a carrier drops the ball, but the fact remains that they're middlemen and have little control over the carriers' schedules or communication skills.

Still, there are companies that successfully deliver cars and customer satisfaction more often than others. It's our job to figure out how they do it and who has the best track record.

We started by reading hundreds of customer reviews to identify common complaints. We determined people care most about the following four things:

• Accurate, transparent pricing with no surprise fees upon delivery.
• A reliable service with on-time pickup and delivery and responsive customer care.
• Carriers who communicate about schedule changes and take good care of the vehicle.
• Some kind of protection or guarantee, often in the form of gap coverage or a damage-free guarantee.

We developed a four-part grading system based on these criteria. Companies earn points in each category, and points equal grades on a scale from A+ to D. We'll adjust our grading criteria as we continue to gather more nuanced information and data, but here's what we currently consider:

• Price transparency: Online quote calculator functionality and privacy, easily accessible fee explanations, guaranteed quotes, price matching, customer satisfaction regarding the final price. 14 points possible.
• Reliability: Guaranteed pickup and/or delivery, customer satisfaction regarding timeliness, and customer satisfaction regarding broker's ability to quickly solve problems. 11 points possible.
• Carrier quality: Transparency regarding carrier vetting process, quality of carrier vetting process, and customer satisfaction with carriers. 6 points possible.
• Insurance coverage: Bare minimum vs. extra liability coverage, optional gap coverage, and extras like claim assistance, damage-free guarantees, and time to inspect for damage. 11 points possible.

To grade a company, we collect information by mystery shopping and analyzing customer reviews on third-party websites like the Better Business Bureau and Trustpilot.

Mystery shopping allows us to experience the brand's website, sales process, and customer service from the perspective of the buyer. For example, some brokers have easy-to-use online quote calculators, while others collect your information and provide a quote over the phone. 

Customer reviews give us insight into real experiences, but we tread carefully here because reviews can often be faked. We look for trends that have occurred in the last 12 months and consider warnings from the Better Business Bureau. We calculate a weighted star rating based on all the reviews we can find online. This average customer rating is shared under each brand section but is distinct from the Move.org star rating, which is an editorial score we create to help readers understand the relative value and quality of each company.

We've also conducted online and in-person interviews with company leaders to learn behind-the-scenes information that sets each one apart. We find these interviews especially helpful in understanding the carrier vetting process.

The car shipping quotes include prices for a motorcycle, car, SUV, and pick up truck across multiple distances with both open and enclosed transport and running and non-running vehicles with a one-week lead time. However, we take cost data with a grain of salt when ranking and reviewing companies that don't guarantee their quotes. Our research shows that the final car shipping price can increase by 25% when all is said and done.

Car shipping is a competitive industry, and companies make changes all the time. We repeat our review methodology at least once per year to ensure we publish up-to-date price averages, customer ratings, and proprietary grades.
