Happy family moving into new home and cheerful or excited child son and parents carrying boxes into their house. First time home owners looking satisfied with real estate property while settling in

Moving into a new home is an exciting milestone, but it can also be overwhelming between unpacking and shopping for new things you didn't realize you'd need—especially if it's your first home. To help ease the burden, we've put together this list of essentials that will make sure you have what you need when you need it!

Cleaning supplies

It's a bummer that cleaning is the last thing we do when we move out—and one of the first things we do when we move in. But we've got some high and low-tech cleaning must-haves to help chase the dust bunnies away.

Electric elbow grease

This is one of my favorite robot vacuums—I've used it at home and had friends even test it out at their salon. The vacuum/mop combo makes it easy to stay on top of daily messes.

And who wants to use more elbow grease than necessary on bathtubs and tile? This electric scrubber has all the muscles (and stamina) you need to make your new home sparkle.

But not all household helpers need to be powered up and connected. Don't forget these old school cleaning supplies that get the job done from the front door to the back porch.

Kitchen essentials

Whether you're outfitting your first kitchen or looking to upgrade your culinary skills, here are the kitchen essentials you need to impress your new neighbors and visiting friends.

Make recycling easy
Organize that pantry

My brother was the first in our family to get the Simplehuman dual trash bin and we've all jumped on board. It makes recycling easy and it doesn't detract from the aesthetics of your new kitchen.

I love an organized pantry, and these airtight containers (complete with lids and labels!) are perfect to show off your beautifully-appointed new pantry.

But I could never stop there—here are a few more kitchen must-haves I've found myself missing after a move.

Bedroom basics

There's nothing like setting up your personal oasis in a new home. Before you turn in for the night, here a few bedroom basics to make your new bedroom cozy and functional.

Easier mornings

Create a peaceful escape to rest and recharge with the softest blanket you've ever had and an alarm clock that gently wakes you—just like the sun when you're out camping.

Plus, we've also got recommendations for less exciting bedroom essentials like storage and tools to help your electronics recharge while your body does the same.

Bathroom necessities

From a main-floor powder room to your dream en suite, a well-appointed bathroom is a must in every home. Here's a look at some bathroom necessities to make the most of your 'water closet.'

You'll love stepping out of the shower or tub and onto this soft microfiber rug that comes in enough sizes and colors to match any decor.

But we know it's not all about luxury, bathrooms have a big service to perform. Here are some more items to help you make the most of your new washrooms.
