How much does 1-800-GOT-JUNK cost?

The average cost of hiring 1-800-GOT-JUNK is between a minimum of $99 for a load and a maximum price of approximately $700 for filling a whole truck. If your junk is particularly dangerous or cumbersome to lift, this total could be higher. You can shave $10 off the total by booking your quote or removal appointment online.

Beloved by customers for its transparent pricing, 1-800-GOT-JUNK charges based on how much space your discarded items take up in a truck. You can get a free, in-person quote by scheduling a two-hour window. During that time, a team will come to your home with a truck to analyze your goods.

Like the price? 1-800-GOT-JUNK hauls everything away on the spot. If not, don’t worry. There’s no obligation to use its services when receiving a quote. The prices include labor, and there’s no added hourly cost if removal takes longer than expected.

Junk removal estimated pricing

We were quoted a price based on a ZIP code in Salt Lake City, UT, but note that removal costs vary widely and are based on location, type of junk, how much space it takes up in the truck, which floor your junk is on, and how tough it is to move.

Amount of junkEstimated cost
Minimum price (3 yards in a truck)$99
Whole truck$558
Refrigerators and other awkward itemsExtra fee

Minimum price (3 yards in a truck)
Whole truck
Refrigerators and other awkward items
Estimated cost
Extra fee

For our minimum price, we listed a mattress, some old carpet, and a couch and found the $99 fee reasonable compared to the cost of moving it ourselves or renting a dumpster. Plus, you’ll rest easy knowing your goods are being properly disposed of by 1-800-GOT-JUNK’s experienced team.

How 1-800-GOT-JUNK helps with your move

Moving to a new home is a great excuse to assess what you own and get rid of anything you don’t want to bring along. Instead of paying to load things you probably don’t need in the truck or spending time disposing of it yourself, use 1-800-GOT-JUNK to have trash picked up fast. Just say the word, and its team will make your junk disappear.

Reasonable pricing, fast service, and a two-person team that does the hauling for you save the time and effort of moving junk around yourself. Plus, you’ll skip gas costs, disposal fees, and the achy back you’d get after lugging an ancient refrigerator or broken IKEA desk to the curb.

While 1-800-GOT-JUNK does not specifically offer moving or repainting services, its O2E family of brands does. Book a full-service move with You Move Me, get your house detailed by Shack Shine, and have the whole place repainted by Wow 1 Day Painting. If you have specific questions about any of these services, call the customer care representatives for the individual companies.

Fast junk removal with 1-800-JUNK’s same-day service

1-800-GOT-JUNK’s offers same-day appointments that we were able to schedule online easily. Time slots begin in the early morning and stretch into post-workday hours to fit with your packed schedule.

To book an estimation or junk removal online, simply enter your ZIP code, pick a time slot, and describe your junk. Provide your address and the uniformed truck team is sent your way—you don’t even have to enter a credit card.

The team will give you a 15–30-minute heads-up of their arrival time within your scheduled two-hour window. Once at your home, the team does an up-front estimate on the spot. If you like the price, the team can haul the junk away right then and there—and even clean the area when they’re done.

The only downside to this service style is that you can’t get a precise over-the-phone estimate. 1-800-GOT-JUNK phone agents can give you a baseline price when you describe your junk’s scope and volume, but only in-person team members can verify and finalize the removal price.

Note that donating your bikes, recycling your refrigerator, and ditching old mattresses could take more time and money than using the service due to disposal fees and fuel costs. Plus, you’d need a vehicle large enough to haul it. Assess all fees to determine the best value for you, or let 1-800-GOT-JUNK do the dirty work and save your efforts for packing boxes and other moving preparations.

Customer service available all day, every day

While the company’s website doesn’t delve into specific services, live agents are always available and helpful in answering questions. From our research, we found we could call the toll-free number and be connected with a live agent in under a minute to schedule an estimate.

1-800-GOT-JUNK’s previous customers agree. Most write rave reviews—many praising the professional customer care and reliable, ethical service.

Junk properly disposed of, recycled, or donated

What we like best about 1-800-GOT-JUNK is not the transparent pricing or the fast, efficient service. It’s how the company disposes of junk it collects. Instead of tossing everything in a dumpster, 1-800-GOT-JUNK works to donate or recycle as many items as possible to divert junk away from landfills, and it’s constantly working to expand its donation and recycling initiatives. Every 1-800-GOT-JUNK team member is fully licensed and insured to pick up and dispose of junk.

Plus, hauling out bulky old televisions and broken hot tubs requires a ton of time and effort, something you probably don’t have when moving. 1-800-GOT-JUNK knows exactly how to safely recycle and dispose of goods, and you won’t pay an extra fee to take it there like you would doing it on your own. Plus, you can sleep better at night knowing your baby’s old crib or outdated bicycle went to new homes.

Every 1-800-GOT-JUNK franchise and team member is registered, permitted, and fully licensed and insured to pick up and dispose of junk, so you don’t need to worry about safety.

Back to your junk. Wondering if 1-800-GOT-JUNK will take it? Here’s a list of commonly picked up items:

  • Appliances and electronics
  • Mattresses
  • Carpeting and flooring
  • Furniture
  • Construction and renovation waste
  • Yard waste
  • Bicycles
  • Nursery items
  • Medical equipment
  • Tires
  • Concrete

Don’t see your unwanted item on the list? That’s okay. 1-800-GOT-JUNK can dispose of just about any nonhazardous items that two strong employees can lift and carry.

Specifically, 1-800-GOT-JUNK doesn’t take any of the following:

  • Paint
  • Chemicals
  • Oil
  • Asbestos
  • Storage drums
  • Junk vehicles

1-800-GOT-JUNK also goes beyond donating by sending repurposed items to people and charities in need. One Salt Lake City franchise collected used crutches, wheelchairs, and walkers to give to a community in Northern Mexico. Other franchises save books from landfills and host yard sales to benefit cancer patients. It’s all part of the company’s mission to do good and give back.

Locations across the country (and continent)

When it comes to hauling away your junk, there are plenty of mom-and-pop local shops to choose from, but 1-800-GOT-JUNK rises above the competition by offering junk removal in 44 US states. Moving to Canada? Or Down Under? You’ll find 1-800-GOT-JUNK outposts up north and in Australia too.

Wide availability near major cities means there’s likely a truck already near your home, and you’ll be able to schedule an appointment immediately to haul your junk away. That sure beats waiting all week for a local hauler to show up.

How does 1-800-GOT-JUNK’s removal service work?

Two-person teams show up armed with a 10 ft. x 8 ft. x 5 ft. truck equipped with shovels, rakes, hand tools, and often trolleys and wheelbarrows. This equipment is sufficient for most jobs, but the company does not operate machinery or carry ladders.

1-800-GOT-JUNK prefers if customers are onsite for the pickup but can take a credit card over the phone if a person-to-person meeting is impossible. The company does not offer moving services with junk trucks but does handle all loading, cleaning, and disposal of unwanted items.

Our recommendation

1-800-GOT-JUNK is an efficient option for anyone looking to clear clutter without a lot of fuss. The company sticks to what it knows—junk removal—and is equipped to haul away nearly any goods you want to bid adieu to fast. Same-day junk removal, responsible disposal, up-front pricing, and superior customer service make 1-800-GOT-JUNK ideal for anyone looking to ditch dilapidated goods quickly and easily.

If 1-800-GOT-JUNK isn’t the right choice for you, use our Best Junk Removal Companies list to find the service that is. 1-800-GOT-JUNK doesn’t offer moving assistance or specialty services like demolition, but if you’re looking for solely junk removal, this company is a winning choice. If you need donation and moving services too, you may be better off with a company like College Hunks Moving and Junk.

Had junk removed today. Was told they
could not give an estimate because they needed to see how full the truck would be and a full truck would be 600.00 and the price would go down from there depending on how full the truck would get. Truck wasn’t anywhere near full, pulled stuff back off, was charged 660.00. Feel like I was scammed!!!!! What was I to do? Have them unload it???? Total scam job. No one to complain to in person! Never again!!!!!!!

Terrible service, arrived to my house with an already half full small truck. Then when they went around much estimate was out rages. The moves did an unprofessional job, threw everything out of the door to land outside in front of the truck rather than placing it in truck. Tore apart dresser and when I finished paying, left piece behind. Lucky caught them before leaving. I pay for a service there shouldn’t be anything left behind. Pissed off. I feel I was paid for a full truck. Sorry will not recommend anyone to your 1800 junk.

Thank you for making me feel like I ruined though guys days for coming to do a job there paid to do. Terrible terrible

It’s good to know how to find a junk removal company and mistakes that will be required to steer clear from when selecting a junk removal company. I like your tip about considering if a rubbish removal is licensed and they also have an address that people can actually trace. Thanks for the tips!

Super disappointing at both the local and corporate levels. They arrived and said that taking everything we had would cost $500. I was at work. My parents were shocked, but knew I was in a bind to get rid of junk for an open house. They quoted $119 on the phone after asking what we had in the driveway for pick up. My parents agreed to pay them the middle rate of $199 to take *some* of the junk. Ultimately, they took a dog bed, cat bed, a lightweight foam core insulation board, a tupperware bin of concrete and two cast iron radiators. The latter could have earned me $150 on Craig’s List, so I would have preferred they had taken a stack of lumber or other junk (insulation, construction waste, etc.) instead. They left us with almost as much to haul away as we started with. They told my parents to go inside while they loaded up — my parents thought they were just off the hook. Parents trusted them — then paid the bill … then saw how little they took. Then they asked us to display their sign at the end of the driveway to advertise for them.

When I got home and saw what they left us with (almost everything!), I was shocked and upset. I immediately called 1-800-Got-Junk and the customer service rep had a bad attitude. He talked over me and didn’t want to hear what I had to tell him. He said someone from corporate would call me within 48 hours. (No call.) 5 days later, I called back. A nice woman said someone would call; sorry about that! (No call.) 4 days later, I called again. Nice woman said she would ask them to come from office and talk to me, but no one was in yet — only an hour into their work day. But someone would call within 48 hours. (Still no call.) Today – I’m writing this review because I’m fed up and clearly they are not having anyone call me.

Our resolution: My dad and I borrowed a neighbor’s truck and loaded up the rest of the junk, hauled it to the Chittenden Solid Waste District Williston Transfer Station. We unloaded almost 900+ lbs of waste — no fuss, no muss, no sorting. We paid … wait for it … $64. They said GOT-JUNK also dumps there. But I’m sure they didn’t dump those radiators, because — $$$ — cha*ching!

My issues: misleading quote, sending my parents away while they “cherry picked” what they loaded (light, minimal), failure to respect the customer with a return phone call (after 3 calls to customer service) and overpricing.

If you’re in Chittendon County and you have junk to haul, ask a friendly neighbor if you can borrow their truck; recruit a neighbor kid to help you load; enjoy a drive to Williston; save a lot of money! I-800-GOT-JUNK-SERVICE — why yes, they do.

I had a horrible experience this past Friday in Plano, TX. First, your trucks are not that big. Second, they showed up with a truck already half full. They walk in to give me an estimate of $508 to move 2 couches, 2 mattresses, a small entertainment center and a large kings size bed and dresser. Because their truck was already half full they couldnt get everything on the truck. They said that the stuff they already put on the truck took 3/4 of it so needless to say they told me I would need to call for additional service and still charged me $508 plus tax. I feel like to got rapped! When talking to the driver he stated that they even charge $128 just to remove a dishwasher. How can you advertise that you have large trucks when I could have rented a Uhaul for $20 with more room. I don’t get it.

High estimate- $558 minus $80 ( deal they gave me) for one dresser and nightstand, one small desk, stationary bike, amoire, chair and couch. Plus approx 10 bags/boxes. Does that fill half a truck? Not even close!!! I am cancelling. If they were fair with a $300 dollar quote they would have my business.

  • Brandon Rodriguez

High estimates. $400 to lift an upright piano into their truck. Forget it.

  • Donna Deckelman

Very nice customer service.but a little pricey. I had a 20 inch tube tv, a small couch, and a home shredder removed and was charged $249 plus tax. According to your article above the price should have been a little above minimum. Also there was a problem disconnecting the tv the rep’s pliers were broken. Fortunately i had pliers and they were able to do the job, and remove the TV. I do not fault the guys who came they were punctual and courteos. I just wonder if i had to pay more because they had come from anothet job and stuff was already on the truck. Judging by what i am reading fron othet comments i think that is what happened.

One of your drivers trucks in the area of Rhode Island on interstate 95 between Fall River and providence has trash flying all over the highway! It is a hazard and a giant piece of bubble wrap got stuck to the hood of our car while driving on the highway! We had to pull over all three lanes and pull to the breakdown lane to pull it off! License plate of your drivers truck is 39287. You need to go over this issue with your drivers!

Excellent service. Called ahead, careful removal, and very polite. Reasonable price.

  • Mike Kaya from LifeTheRightWay

Evan, the manager of the office is a polite but fake. They have a nice establishment when you get started to train and work the first few days.

I started to work with them for a about a week trial run. It was the time of my life, removing junk from people’s homes and businesses. Throwing the junk in the back of the truck and then driving to junkyards to throw out the trash and repeat the routine.

It was a nice experience not gonna lie, but then out of nowhere even if I did land top in the sales competition between our team with their top trainer, I was let go.

No reason, just “don’t come back in the next day.” Evan said

I ask for a second chance, and dont get it. I ask for a reason why? I never receive a response.

What a crappy way of representing yourself as a company.

On top of the work which was decent, they literally scam the crap out of their customers charging surcharge fees that are ridiculous up to $250 just for stairs at jobs. Ridiculous. Bill was originally like 1 grand then became like 2 grand.

Years later after I have a my first child at 24, I apply again to this branch in Hopes of a job since I am older faster, and wiser… and with actual sales experience, I thought they would hire me when in desperate need of a job, but no. Evan doing evan things. Thank you for nothing

We have recently started our new junk removal company and came across this article.

Really appreciate you taking the time to educate us on this. I would have never thought of some of these secrets, but it makes perfect sense.

Junkyard removal by no means is an exciting topic to write about, but you did an excellent job keeping it entertaining and not boring. Thanks a ton. http://www.scottsdalejunk.com
