How much does BLVD Moving cost?

BLVD Moving offers binding estimates based on your inventory and move details. That means you’ll know your price up front, as long as there are no last-minute changes on moving day.

Unlike some movers, BLVD includes all known fees in the quote — including shuttle charges — so customers aren’t hit with unexpected add-ons at delivery. It’s one of the most transparent pricing structures we’ve seen for a mid-sized mover.

What is a binding estimate?

A binding estimate is an agreement between you and your long-distance mover that they will only collect the amount you were quoted for. However, if things change and you need more or fewer services, you can adjust this estimate as needed prior to your moving day.

Overall, we've found that a professional move can cost anywhere from $1,200 up to $29,000, depending on how many miles you're moving and the size of your home. With BLVD's long-distance pricing starting around $2,700, the company is definitely in line with other professional movers (and may even be a better deal). Of course, the total price of your move will depend on several factors, like where you are moving to and from, the size of home you're moving, your moving dates, the extra services you choose (like packing), and how far ahead you book your move.

BLVD Moving deposits and discounts

BLVD Moving requires a deposit to reserve your long-distance move. Once you accept your quote, you'll need to pay 33% of the total to lock in your move. While some movers, like Allied Van Lines and United Van Lines, don't require a deposit, it's not uncommon.

SafeWay Moving requires a 25% deposit, American Van Lines' deposit ranges from 10% to 50%, and Colonial Van Lines requires up to 40% to secure your move. Comparatively, BLVD comes in at the mid to high range for its deposit amount.

Discounts are also typical in cross-country moving, and BLVD offers a 10% military discount. Based on the sample pricing we received, you could save several hundred dollars on your move if you or a household member is in the U.S. military.

What services/features does BLVD Moving offer?

Barcode tracking is a big deal

BLVD Moving uses barcodes to track each item in your move — not just every box. That means that your belongings are meticulously inventoried, making it easy to identify and locate any missing or lost items upon delivery.

Full-service packing

For me, one of the most dreaded parts of moving is getting everything packed. If that's a chore you'd rather not do, let BLVD take care of it for you. BLVD Moving offers full-service packing to save you time and protect your belongings (no heavy lifting required!).

Whether you’re moving a one-bedroom apartment or a large home full of antiques and delicate items, BLVD’s experienced packers bring all the supplies, wrap every item with care, and even help unpack it on the other end.

What BLVD’s packing services include:

  • All packing supplies provided—no guesswork about box sizes or tape strength
  • Secure crating, boxing, and wrapping of your belongings
  • Extra care and protection for fragile or high-value items
  • Optional unpacking assistance at your new home or office

One of the best parts of BLVD's packing services is the specialized training their crews receive. Their packers are trained to handle delicate items with an extra layer of care and protection, so your belongings arrive just the way they left.

Customer experience and support

BLVD Moving goes the extra mile to ease moving stress. Dispatchers follow up prior to pickup, and quotes are designed to include all foreseeable costs. If something goes wrong, the company uses barcode tracking to locate missing items and resolves claims directly or through third-party insurers, depending on the coverage.

Customer support highlights

  • Spanish-speaking support available
  • 72-hour cancellation policy
  • Clear communication about delivery windows
  • Internal and third-party claim handling based on coverage level
  • No broker hand-offs — most moves handled directly

Reputation and reliability

BLVD Moving has an A rating with the BBB and was named to Forbes’ list of top moving companies. The company maintains its reputation by managing moves internally and limiting outsourcing to highly vetted, experienced contractors. Their team includes owner-operators and independent movers with at least two years of long-distance experience.

How BLVD maintains quality:

  • No brokerage or handoffs to random (unvetted) partners
  • In-house compliance and third-party audits
  • Regular spot checks and customer feedback reviews
  • Five company-run storage facilities across Southern California
  • 52 trucks and trailers in peak season to avoid delays

Here's what real customers are saying about BLVD Moving

BLVD Moving earns an overall weighted average rating of 3.86 out of 5 stars across hundreds of customer reviews from third-party review sites like Trustpilot, BBB, and Google. The company gets high marks for its professional movers, careful handling of fragile items, and personalized support from specific team members. However, there are also consistent complaints related to billing disputes and communication breakdowns, specifically when it comes to delivery timing and price changes.

It's important to note that, across the board, we've noticed that many customer complaints about any moving company often result from customers not fully understanding the terms, delivery windows, or pricing breakdown. That said, we encourage everyone to do their own research, fully read all documentation, and ask every question you have. In our experience, no company is trying to deliver sub-par service.

What customers love

Positive reviews highlight the professionalism, strength, and efficiency of BLVD’s moving crews. Customers often mention feeling well taken care of during stressful moves, especially when under tight timelines or dealing with fragile items like statues or antiques.

“The movers were strong, skilled, and efficient. They took special care to wrap delicate items... The move was completed ahead of schedule and within budget.” (Trustpilot review, December 2024)

“I had a tight move-out deadline... The movers showed up early and got everything loaded without delay.” (Trustpilot review, July 2025)

“I have moved cross-country a couple of times, but I have never had the personal attention that I had from BLVD.” (BBB review, July 2025)

BLVD's team is also praised for going above and beyond: Helping with last-minute packing, working around building constraints, and recovering misplaced items.

Where customers report issues

The most common complaints stem from unexpected charges and a perceived lack of communication once the move is underway. While BLVD says its quotes are binding and inclusive of common fees (like elevator or shuttle charges), several customers report being surprised by add-on costs or sudden rate increases just before moving day.

“I was told repeatedly there would be a flat fee... When I had to pay I was charged much more than agreed upon.” (Trustpilot review, July 2025)

“They added several last-minute fees: elevator use, long carry, transferring to a smaller truck... ” (BBB review, July 2025)

Other negative reviews describe unreturned calls, missed delivery dates, or confusing interactions with contractors — sometimes causing confusion about BLVD’s claim that it handles moves in-house.

Our take on the customer reviews

Customers consistently appreciate BLVD Moving's frontline movers and packers, indicating that the in-person experience is often very positive. But complaints about backend operations, billing discrepancies, and poor responsiveness indicate a need for more consistent communication and better customer service follow-through.

We recommend documenting everything in writing, confirming your quote details (including fees) in advance, and reaching out early if you anticipate any special delivery conditions or restrictions.

How does BLVD Moving compare to other [type of service] companies?

BLVD Moving offers lower starting prices than many national brands like Allied or United, with quotes from $2,700–$3,200 for long-distance moves. While its Move.org rating (3.5 stars) is lower than top-tier companies like American Van Lines (4.7) or Colonial (4.8), BLVD stands out for West Coast relocations and transparent, binding quotes. However, it requires a higher upfront deposit (33%) than many competitors. We're still getting to know BLVD, and will update our rating as we gather more feedback from real customers who use BLVD Moving.

How we review the best long-distance moving companies

Why you can trust our reviews

In late 2024, Move.org adopted an updated, more rigorous editorial strategy. This change included new editorial leadership and in-depth data collection and analysis from a dedicated data analyst. Our new approach is rooted in cutting through the noise to provide readers with honest, unfiltered information and reviews they can rely on. We are committed to bringing expert-backed insights that go beyond surface-level research.

We aim to clarify misleading marketing, uncover real customer experiences, and highlight the best each company offers. We know that moving is a deeply personal experience, and that’s why we’re on a mission to identify the good, the bad, and the ugly so you can find the cross-country mover that meets your unique needs—while avoiding the common pitfalls that can be both financially and emotionally costly. Here’s how we do it:

  1. In-depth research and mystery shopping.
  2. Industry verification and regulatory compliance.
  3. Real-world moving experiences.
  4. Collaboration with moving companies and cross-verification.
  5. Ongoing monitoring and updates.
  6. A 5-point rating systems that looks at pricing and value, customer service and experience, services and extras, availability and scheduling, and reputation.

We recommend BLVD Moving for its experienced crews and transparent pricing practices

If you’re moving long-distance from California, Arizona, or Nevada, BLVD Moving is a top-tier pick. Its combination of transparent pricing, trained crews, and proactive support makes it especially appealing for customers with high-value items or complex commercial moves.

We also appreciate how the company manages expectations up front, especially when it comes to delivery windows, fees, and insurance options. Plus, it’s rare to find a mover that offers the scale of a national carrier but maintains the personal touch of a local business.

BLVD Moving may not be the right fit for every move — it doesn’t offer international service, and local moves are only available in a few Western states. But for West Coast long-distance relocations, it brings a winning combo of reliability and transparency.

Want a mover that treats you (and your stuff) like family?

Endnotes

  1. Safety ratings: A safety rating evaluates a motor carrier’s compliance with federal safety standards. FMCSA assigns Satisfactory, Conditional, or Unsatisfactory ratings after a compliance review. However, not all carriers receive a rating. Unrated means the FMCSA has not assigned one, and it is not that the carrier is unsafe. Safety ratings apply to motor carriers, not individual drivers.
