All My Sons Moving & Storage is a family-owned and operated company known for its included services: free furniture quilt-pad wrapping and furniture placement, to name a few.

Hate dumping out and packing drawer contents? Us too. One of our favorite All My Sons perks is that you can leave your clothing in your dressers when you pack. We also like All My Sons for its fast, friendly customer service and noncorporate, family-run vibes.

What to know about All My Sons Moving & Storage

All My Sons covers long-distance moves to any location within the United States, and while it handles local moves as well, its availability is limited.

Note that All My Sons Moving & Storage can move TO any state but cannot move WITHIN every state. All My Sons doesn’t have offices or storage units in every state. Check to see if your state has an All My Sons location that can service your local move.

Here are some other important things you should know about All My Sons:

  1. It offers white-glove moving services.
  2. It provides same- and next-day service for some moves.
  3. It offers optional temporary storage (sometimes).

It provides white-glove specialty moving services

Like other movers, All My Sons’ professionals do all the work of moving heavy furniture and safely loading your belongings into a truck. And when it comes to packing and loading items beyond basic boxes and trinkets, the company also offers a bevy of specialty services—for an extra cost.

Need your antique Ming vase collection packed? Done. How about the huge pool table you never use but insist on moving anyway? They’ll handle that too. Rather binge watch Disney+ than deal with moving? Add on packing supplies and packing and unpacking services, and All My Sons will handle everything while you chill out.

All My Sons specialty moving services

  • Furniture placement
  • Basic liability protection with the option to upgrade to full coverage
  • Full packing and unpacking
  • Fragile and antique item packing services
  • Piano moving
  • Packing supplies
  • Rug placement, drape hanging, and other moving-related tasks
  • Short- and long-term storage

It offers same- and next-day moves

While it is difficult to nail down pricing on same- and next-day services, we do love that All My Sons offers last-minute moves.

If you’re relocating within 500 miles of your current home, All My Sons can send its team and truck to move you within 24 hours. This is a tough feature to find in a moving company, so All My Sons is a good choice if you’re in a bind.

However, you’ll need to have your belongings already packed for same or next-day service—or you’ll have to hire All My Sons to do the packing for you.

It has optional temporary storage (in limited quantities)

Whether you’re building your dream house or still shopping for a place to call your own, you may need to temporarily store your belongings before moving into your new home. If so, All My Sons movers will safely transport your items to its climate-controlled, company-run storage units until you’re ready for them.

All My Sons claims to have low storage prices, but pricing information isn’t available online—you’ll have to call the company directly.

We love that the storage units are run by All My Sons so your move is not outsourced, but we don’t like that storage locations are limited. All My Sons' storage units are not available in all states, so you should confirm availability before relocating.

For instance, if you’re moving from Colorado to California with All My Sons, you could store your belongings in an All My Sons storage unit in Colorado before your move but would not have that option once in California.

How much does All My Sons Moving & Storage cost?

First things first: You won’t find an online quote tool for All My Sons. The company kicks it old school by requiring you to call in for pricing.

Due to the nature of this quoting process, we found it difficult to get an accurate estimate on the fly. Here’s how our rough quote broke down.

All My Sons long-distance moving rates

Quoted cost
$8,200*

Origin

Salt Lake City, UT

Destination

Sacramento, CA

Total distance

649 miles

Home size

3 bedrooms

Total weight

7,000 lbs.

*Does not include packing fees or fuel surcharges. Prices vary and are subject to change.

All My Sons isn’t as upfront about its added fees as some other moving companies (though admittedly there’s no company that we’d consider completely transparent in this area). What we do know is that All My Sons includes the following in every long-distance move:

  • Full dresser hauling (no need to empty drawers)
  • Loading and unloading
  • Quilt wrapping for furniture
  • Basic liability protection
  • Same-day and next-day service for moves under 500 miles

If you’re staying closer to home, here’s what the company includes in every local move:

  • Full dresser hauling
  • Many packing supplies (free of charge)
  • Quilt wrapping for furniture
  • Furniture setup and placement
  • Same-day and next-day service for moves under 500 miles
  • Basic liability protection

Basic liability coverage is provided by All My Sons at no cost, but you can opt for additional moving coverage to fully protect your belongings in transit.

Moving companies offer valuation coverage, not insurance

Moving companies often provide valuation options like full-replacement value and released value protection for their customers, which makes them liable for damages incurred during the moving process. However, these options are not the same as insurance and may not cover your belongings as thoroughly as you prefer. Find out the difference between transit protection and insurance.

Getting a quote

Obtaining a quote with All My Sons Moving & Storage is one of the most elusive aspects of the process—while you can get a rough figure over the phone, you have to meet with an in-home estimator to calculate an accurate total.

To begin the quoting process, you must provide your full name and phone number. On the upside (or downside if you hate unexpected phone calls), your phone will ring as soon as you hit submit—and an All My Sons representative will assist you from there.

Make sure your budget is accurate

Getting an in-home estimate from All My Sons is the best way to make sure what you pay matches what you've budgeted for your upcoming move.

Extra fees

Note that some fees, like fuel surcharges and travel fees, may not be included in your quote. Be sure to get all prices and fees in writing from your estimator (since quotes are not emailed to you separately).

Our recommendation

While All My Sons representatives were excellent to work with by phone—we love the fast customer service—we can’t guarantee the work of the company’s individual moving professionals.

Some verified reviews rave about the local teams, while others lament added fees, stolen items, poor service, and broken home goods that were not replaced or repaired.

For long-distance moves, All My Sons Moving & Storage has all the tools needed to provide a great moving experience. But when relocating locally (i.e. within state lines) check that the company has a local office in your state—they cannot move you or provide storage if they do not.

Methodology

Move.org evaluates and identifies the moving industry’s best full-service movers using a fivefold research approach:

  • Compare pricing transparency. We gather quotes, check for binding estimates, and read customer reviews about pricing to ensure each moving company’s prices are trustworthy.
  • Mystery shopping. We review every company’s website, pose as customers in calls to companies, and read customer reviews to analyze every company’s moving services, transit protection, and customer service. We also interview actual customers to learn how their moves went from start to finish.
  • Site visits.  We invite moving companies to our headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT, to share data and expertise. We verify the information they provide by comparing it to data gathered through independent research and interviews with other movers.
  • Regular review. We routinely repeat this process to update our recommendations to reflect current data and trends. We also revise each review annually and make updates throughout the year.

If I could give a negative rating I would.
I was on the schedule for an 830 to 10 am arrival. At 10 I called to find out where they were. Dispatch told me where they were based on GPS. More than an hour away. Couldn’t tell me why they were running late. Of course no one called either to say that there was a delay. Having decided that they had wasted enough time out of my day for nothing I cancelled.
I have emailed twice since then to inquire about my deposit. I was there. They were not. I do not feel as though they deserve the deposit. So far no one has responded to me or even acknowledged me.
Save your money and use someone else. These guys are a joke.
The email address on their webpage is not active!!!

  • I was very impressed with Malik and his crew from Charleston , SC. They arrived on time and got right to work. They carefully wrapped and packed our furniture to put in storage.i will definitely use them again when I move.

  • Let me start with saying that this is my 3rd time using AMS moving. Now let me say it will be the last. The estimator came to my home and quoted me a little of $4k for two trucks & a two day pack/load/ unload & travel fees to move me approximately 2-3 miles to my new home. Their office called and confirmed what she proposed. I also paid a $500 deposit. On the Monday before my move they called again to say they have me on the schedule for the move and would be there on Friday. I told them I was originally scheduled for Thursday pack & Friday move since my closing was on Friday. They said no problem, they were going to do a complete wrap and move in one day. I said OK because who am I to question it since this is what they supposedly do every day. Well Friday comes and the lead guy, who was very nice, arrives and is shocked. He said that it should have been a two day/ two truck move and he only has one truck. At that point forward my blood pressure & stress level increased. The first day crew was nice and it wasn’t their fault their main office messed up. The second day my patience was wearing thin. They waited until last to pack my refrigerator but failed to leave me a cooler to use. No problem says the lead guy, we will pack it and then unload it first thing. Yep, didn’t happen and when it did they put the refrigerated items under a bunch of other boxes and it wasn’t labeled (then again half the boxes aren’t labeled either), my freezer items I still can’t find and I fear they are in my garage behind and under a bunch of other items. I moved on Saturday and it’s Thursday and I am STILL unpacking because there was no rhyme or reason why they put the boxes where they did. Boxes that are labeled garage are in my living room, boxes labeled basement are in my dining room, boxes labeled master bedroom are in my dining room. The first day I paid $2800 the second day was $3560, plus don’t forget I paid $500. Now I am not a mathematician, but this is almost double what I was quoted. I called their office and let them know I was upset and all I got was an apology. At that point I didn’t want an apology I wanted the overage I was charged back. I told him that my frequent customer discount meant nothing at this point and his apology was just words and did nothing for me. He said that maybe they need to terminate the estimator, like it was her fault. I told him SHE was the one who quoted me properly, they messed up. I would have been better off renting a UHaul & hiring some day laborers to move me. I will NEVER EVER EVER hire this company again. Wish me luck as I continue to hunt for the frozen (now thawed & rotting food), my plates, my silverware, & linens. Don’t even get me started on the fact that you HAVE to pay the amount owed or they won’t unload. They were more worried about their paperwork than actually getting things packed.

  • do not use. worst company ever. final charge nothing like estimate and fail to follow even simple directions.
there’s even a Facebook group about how bad they are.

  • Before hiring this company, read the many NEGATIVE complaints on the Better Business Bureau website. AMS was extremely careless, breaking the leg off an antique table because they did not wrap it, scratching a door in our home, removing and losing a glass shelf in a cabinet, and breaking a credenza. When I filed for damages, the headquarters in Texas did not meet the conditions of its own contract and refused to discuss it with me, even through the BBB. In addition, the movers arrived so late they could not finish the move. They did not return on the agreed upon date to finish, and when we rescheduled, they appeared 3 hours late with no communication. Their movers are clearly overworked, stating they have not had a day off in weeks. If the parent company in Texas were willing to discuss the disputed damages, I might be more sympathetic.
